Ingredients for Puto Maya:

  1. 2 cups Glutinous Rice.
  2. 2 cups Coconut milk.
  3. 3/4 cups White Sugar.
  4. 1/2 tsp Salt.
  5. Thumbsize ginger.
  6. leaves Banana.

Step by step how to cook Puto Maya:

  1. Soak glutinous rice in water for 8 hours or overnight.
  2. Rinse and strain water from rice.
  3. Add the coconut milk, sugar, salt and minced ginger cut into thin pieces.
  4. Continue to stir on medium low heat until most liquid is absorbed.
  5. Steam the banana leaves. This is to avoid tearing..
  6. Place the banana leaf like a plate in the steamer then pour the rice..
  7. Steam for 30 mins..
  8. Fold the sheets of banana leaves into a cone.
  9. Place the cooked rice into the cones.
  10. Serve with mangoes and hot chocolate.
